Chantal often wondered how they could be so very alike in many ways and yet when it came right down to it, she was unsure if they really had any common ground at all--other than shared parentage.

I'm not leaving until this book is finished and it's a long one.

She could see the future, he could turn into a horse--they weren't exactly normal and neither one seemed to care.
chantal: (Default)
Chantal didn't know how or why or even what it was exactly that set her apart from the rest of the world, some days she didn't wish to find out.

I'm old.

I modeled for him once.

Her sight didn't work that way; try as she might, there was nothing for her to find in her own future.

Help...no...please don't...no...no...oh god, why are you doing this...NO!

The weather along the coastal region of Southern California is famed for being mild and lovely--today this is such a lie, which explains why she's roamed through her darkened house and is now standing in front of the refrigerator with the door open while completely naked.

Some several years ago...

When the night has come

She sat at her kitchen table, phone in hand, and waited.

And the land is dark

Not a single light on in the house and as the hours passed, shadows crept up the walls.

And the moon is the only light we see

Blue-white light reflected in the glass surface of the table and she stared into her own dark eyes, looking down as the mirror image glared back in accusation.

No I won't be afraid

Not until the phone rang. Not until she knew for certain.

No I won't be afraid

She jumped, startled, when the ringer cut through the thick weight of the silence—she didn’t want to answer. “Hello…?”

Just as long as you stand, stand by me

He was gone. Now she knew. They weren’t just dreams or maybes or what-ifs. They were all true.

And she was alone.

Sister taking a picture of me taking a picture.

Why? Because she's afraid to get in the icky water to get the shot she actually wants but has no problem staying up where it's dry and documenting my dedication. She really is a terrible person.
